| Recent
large, catastrophic fires near urban areas have stimulated
more interest in fuel hazard mitigation. For example,
in June 2002 the Hayman fire destroyed more than 137,000
acres and 600 structures. During the same month, nine
other fires in Colorado destroyed over 110,632 acres and
168 structures. |
